Want to learn more about how to be safe on the water? Check out our SUP SAFETY workshop to find out all about the essential aspects of SUP safety. The workshop will be led by NZ SUP National Safety Officer Bill Dawes, and will cover the essential aspects of SUP safety, the correct equipment choices for the environment that you'll be paddling in and how to use them, understanding the weather and water conditions, how to read them, what you need to know and think about, and what might go wrong and what to do about it. You'll learn loads, and get chance to have a go with various items of safety equipment. It’s very informal and each workshop is tailored to suit the group and the local paddling environment. It’ll last around 2 - 2.5 hours, and there should be enough time for chat about other aspects of SUP as well, again, based on what the group is interested in discussing.
If the weather is fine (and the current water pollution issues have been sorted out!), we could all go for a paddle afterwards, if that's of interest to anyone.
The course is limited to a maximum of 20 people so prior booking is essential. There is a small fee per person of $5 to cover refreshments.
Please contact [email protected] to reserve your place. (And indicate your interest here).
