Sunset Writers - Writing Club

Join Sunset Writers - a brand-new writing community - for its monthly gathering on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The evening will start with introductions, allowing everyone an opportunity to get to know one another and build community. The rest of the event will be dedicated to quiet writing time. Writers are welcome to write in both electronic and handwritten mediums. Note that outlets may be limited, so plan accordingly.

The lovely Sunset Commons, located at 1600 Irving Street, will host. Sunset Commons offers a third space for creatives in the Inner Sunset neighborhood and beyond.

About Lauren

Lauren Ashley Week is a Sunset resident and lifelong writer. She currently works as a public interest lawyer - where she spends a lot of time drafting briefs, memos, and mostly long emails. While not at work, Lauren enjoys writing non-fiction, including academic research articles (especially about urban planning) and personal essays (usually about social justice), and is recently exploring poetry. Her work has been published by the American Bar Association, American Planning Association, various academic journals, and BUST Magazine.

Carmen and Steven started Sunset Commons to provide a space to connect and build community through arts and craft activities led by talented local artists. Inspired by a love for creativity and a desire to foster connection in the Sunset District, we envisioned a “third space” where neighbors can gather, unwind, and form meaningful relationships. Our mission is to empower self-expression, boost confidence, and offer an inclusive haven for everyone, from introverts seeking a calm environment to those enjoying health-focused traditional teas. Sunset Commons is not just a business - it’s our way of enriching the community we love and to the city we both grew up in.
