About this Event
The Damascus Affair of 1840 was one of the first modern blood libels. George Pieritz, a missionary at Christ Church in Jerusalem, played an important role in ensuring the Jews' innocence in the eyes of British observers. We will examine Pieritz's role as a convert from Judaism to Christianity, considering Pieritz's work as an example of Kendall Soulen's theological concept of the “blessing of an other.”
This seminar will take place at the Schubach Library & Study Center in Skokie, Illinois on Sunday, October 2 from 2–3pm Central Time. It is free and open to the general public. To register, please email [email protected]
