Sunday Stories at QPM - The Unsolved Murders of Cummings and Walsh
About this Event
Christmas Eve of 1926 the bodies of Eilleen Walsh and Acting Sergeant of the Queensland Police, Marquis Cummings were found in Dutton Park.
On the morning of 24 December 1926, a train driver and fireman travelling between Dutton Park and Dutton Park Road spotted the bodies of a man and woman lying on a football ground near Boggo Road J*il and reported it at the next station.
Police soon identified the man as Acting Sergeant Marquis Cumming, who had failed to report off duty the previous night after completing his shift.
The woman was housewife Eileen Walsh.
Their shooting deaths sparked a complex investigation that was never satisfactorily resolved, and the murders remain unsolved nearly 100 years later.
At this month’s Sunday Stories event, Queensland Police Museum Curator Lisa Jones will examine the case and the investigation that followed.
Please join us for this free ticketed event and enjoy a morning tea as we celebrate our 20th year bringing guest speakers to you on the last Sunday of the month (February - November)
