Sunday Sounds Improvised Music Workshop and Performance

Music is a universal human (and beyond human) experience, yet most people are not taught to openly create music. All people are musicians, but few are given the opportunity to openly express themselves through creating their own melodies, rhythms, and sounds. Listening to free form improvised music can expand concepts of what music is. Playing free form improvised music can provide a doorway in to musical expression for anyone willing to try. Each Sunday Sounds event will begin with artist-led improvised music workshops catering to different groups and modes of creating based on the vision of the workshop artist followed by a performance by the artists and others.
6. p.m. Workshop FREE
Our November workshop is being led by Liz Draper. Bassist Liz Draper has played with everyone from indie pioneers Low, Smithsonian recording artist Charlie Parr, Soul Asylum, to the legendary songwriter Iris DeMent. Draper released her anticipated debut solo album Meno at the end of 2025 on Liatris Records. Dark, murky, heartbreaking and deep, Meno fits squarely in the genre of “classicaldoomfolkjazz.” Draper’s solo work has been very well received, including making Uncut Magazine's Highest Rated Albums list of 2025.
7:30 Performances $10 no one turned away for lack of funds
Live improvised music performances. Set 1: Liz Draper on Bass, Sara Pajunen on Violin
