Sunday Sidewalk Sessions - July 5
4 local musicians will be sprinkled throughout downtown, creating a soundtrack to your Sunday afternoon--inviting you to slow down, wander and stay awhile.
Expect a mix of familiar favorites and original songs—the music you want to hear alongside the music that lights them up.
Pair it with a visit to the French Market (9:00 am – 2:00 pm), grab lunch, explore the shops and follow the sound.
Musicians will gather at Preservation after they're done to jam with the musician playing on their patio from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.
This week to kick us off, we have a WIDE variety of music! Jeremy and Emily Byer are the violin, bass and heart of New Vintage Strings. They are shaking up what we've known about these instruments and playing them like you’ve never heard them before. Classically-trained, experienced orchestral players play songs you know and love with a vintage spin (Bridgerton fans take note!)
The Koop, aka Jim Kupres, will take requests–Rock, Pop, Folk, Country, Reggae & Soul. He calls himself “eclectic acoustic”.
He loves to cover Petty, Beatles, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Paul Simon, Springsteen, The Band, Stones, Warren Zevon, Steve Earle, John Hiatt, Bowie, Elton John, Nick Lowe, John Prine, Johnny Cash and more… it’s a long list… no song book… no iPad… just passion!
Luis Martinez is a Chicagoland-based singer-songwriter who has always had a song in his ear and a story in his heart. He is inspired by artists like Joe Pug, Jason Isbell, Damien Rice and The Mountain Goats. In addition to his original work, he performs a wide-ranging selection of covers spanning contemporary top 40 and country to classic folk, rock and 2000s alternative and indie.
Blue has his own sound. We’d describe it as kinda folky, grunge, Americana and a little bit country. You'll hear some Benjamin Tod, Lost Dog Street Band, Willi Carlisle and Hank Williams SR, and of course, a few Jimmy Lanute originals!
