This October, Wisseloord Studios proudly presents a special community concert celebrating 100 years of the Afrikaans language through music. South African artists Dawie de Jager and Dewald Wasserfall will take the stage for an intimate acoustic performance, sharing their favorite Afrikaans songs alongside their own original work. Both Dawie and Dewald have enjoyed highly successful music careers in South Africa, and now call the Netherlands home — Dawie in Hilversum and Dewald in Breda. Together, they will bring the soul, stories, and melodies of Afrikaans music to life in the heart of Wisseloord Studios.

Dawie de Jager
Dawie de Jager is a South African singer-songwriter, founding member of the legendary bands Klopjag and Die Tuindwergies, and a longtime touring guitarist with Roan Ash. Over the years he has built a successful career as a performer, composer, and music producer, now based in Hilversum in the Netherlands. Alongside his performing career, Dawie is also a well-established film and TV composer, blending his love for storytelling and sound. At Wisseloord, he will share a special acoustic set of his favorite Afrikaans songs, alongside his own work, in celebration of 100 years of the Afrikaans language.
Dewald Wasserfall
Dewald Wasserfall is a celebrated South African artist, who first broke onto the music scene with his band Wasserfall before launching a hugely successful solo career. With a string of hit singles, awards, and a loyal fan base, Dewald has become one of the most recognized voices in Afrikaans music. Now living in Breda in the Netherlands, he continues to share his passion for songwriting and performing across borders. At Wisseloord, Dewald will bring an intimate acoustic set — celebrating Afrikaans music and culture through both beloved classics and his own songs.
