We are thrilled to invite grades 1-5 to Sunday School at North Scottsdale United Methodist church (NSUMC), where mindfulness and honoring each child's unique spirit are at the heart of what we do. At NSUMC, the Sunday School program includes children's breathing techniques, yoga movements, the mindfulness of Godly Play, and creative expression through different art forms. Our goal is to partner with the parents to support the whole child.Our Sunday School classroom will begin with a warm welcome, a breath exercise and gentle yoga movements. We will then explore the Godly Play lesson through storytelling and the use of wooden manipulatives to bring scripture to life in a gentle and engaging way. This will be followed by wondering questions about the scripture story and continue with thoughtful dialogue. The session will conclude with creative expression, which will rotate regularly and may involve paint, clay, science, gardening, music, or other mediums, allowing children to express their heartfelt comprehension of the story in unique and various ways.
You will be invited to sign in at the Greeter’s Counter in the lobby. The children will begin worship in the sanctuary with their parents and will be dismissed to join their Sunday School teachers after about 10 minutes. The class meets in room #8 in the east wing.
