On Sunday, the 12th of July, we'll leave promptly at 9.30am from the Undercliff Café, Ovingdean Beach, Undercliff Walk, Brighton BN2 7HG, to ride 15kms east to Seaford.
We'll arrive at the The Salts Café at Salts Recreation Ground, Seaford BN25 1DR to meet other riders, and be ready to leave again at 10.30 to cycle to Lakeside café-bistro at Horam for lunch. Lakeside is at Horam Manor Farm, Horam, East Sussex TN21 0JB. Bring a picnic lunch if you prefer, and find a spot to have it.
There will be some gentle off-road. Likely route: From Seaford to the cycle facility next to the A27 via Milton Street, and then from Polegate to Horam via the Cuckoo Trail. Slightly wider tyres (25mm and above) are best.
This will be a round trip of about 40 miles, ending in Lewes, where you can independently cycle back to Brighton or get a train if they are running.
Below is a gpx file of the route from Brighton to Seaford and most of the way back towards Lewes, then to Brighton.
The ride is 52 miles, mainly on roads with some easy gravel parts.
Please note: all our rides are weather-dependent. If the weather looks bad, a ride will be cancelled!
Please note: in summer, always bring plenty of water to drink when the weather is hot.
If you plan to come on any of our rides, please make sure your cycle is in a roadworthy condition. Bring a puncture repair kit, a spare inner tube (or, for tubeless tyres, as appropriate), essential tools, a mobile phone if you have one, snacks, enough to drink, and sunscreen/waterproofs/warm clothing as appropriate. Don't forget your lights if you expect to be out in the hours of darkness. Please follow Cycling UK guidance and the Highway Code.
