Sunday Painters | Libby Wakefield

This workshop is tailored towards beginners wanting to learn how to develop as expressive landscape painters. Experienced artist and educator Libby Wakefield will guide you through:

• choosing brushes, paints and supports
• how to prepare a canvas, start a painting and develop it to completion
• various expressive painting techniques and paint applications
• tips and tricks of the trade

Libby has been making and teaching art for almost 20 years.  The central focus of her work looks at ways in which she can depict the local landscape and wetlands through the lens of Romanticism, exploring themes of beauty and the sublime.

Libby has been a finalist in many art prizes including The Waverley Art Prize, The Fisher Ghost Art Awards, The Wingecarribee Landscape Prize, The Goulburn Art prize, The David Turnbull Bequest Prize, NSW Parliament Plein Air Prize, and highly commended in the Norvill Art Prize and the Belle Property Prize. She recently won the Blue Square Art Prize.

Libby is currently represented by Whitewall Art projects in Berrima and the Grainger Gallery in Canberra.
