The Women of Concinnity and singers from Choir Matrix Women’s Ensemble collaborate to uncover a wealth of choral music that illuminates the voice that can emerge from “Within constraints”. The performance will include music of women from 17th century Europe, who could only compose within the convent and songs that give insight to the social constraints experienced by the poet or composer. Featuring songs by Hildegard Von Bingen, Isabella Leonarda, Florence Price, Ivette Rodriguez, and more, including the live premiere of a composition by Melissa Dunphy. Come experience art that can blossom even in moments where it seems impossible.
