An "open-source" ritual gathering to grow connections, cultivate insight and wisdom, and build a commons of the sacred.

Human culture has evolved together with ritual. Collective gatherings, at once formal and imaginative, have allowed us to connect to community and the larger wholes we are a part of, to make sense of the world, and to navigate our biggest existential and ethical questions.

What would a Sunday ritual service without religion look like in our postmodern world? Is it even possible? Can we have a ritual gathering, open to everyone, from any belief system, that allows for an experience of the sacred? What social transformation is possible from there?

For the past two and a half years, the church of interbeing in Berlin has been experimentally exploring these questions, offering one possible answer to the challenge of staging “open source” ritual events.

This Sunday we’ll host a service at the Alembic, a simple ritual on the theme of Connection. As a part of the ritual arc we’ll practice meditation, embodiment, dialogue, and share food and song together.

Themes:
What do I feel connected to?
What does connection mean to me?
How do I experience connection to myself, to others, to the bigger whole -- right now?

About the Interbeing Network:

The aim of the Interbeing Network is to incubate, inform, and coordinate a worldwide network of local groups who create regular, place-based, “open source” ritual events — gatherings that build connection across differences, cultivate insight and wisdom, and become local commons of the sacred where participants can reconnect with themselves, each other, and all life.
