FREE North 2 Shore concert on the island! Join us for a unique collaboration of two of Asbury Park’s favorite ambassadors of funk and soul when Ocean Avenue Stompers and Alexander Simone & WhoDat? Live Crew with their full bands and a slew of special guests bring the Funk and Soul to St. John’s Island, one of the best places to enjoy live music! These two powerhouses will build an immersive experience honoring the roots of soul, funk, gospel and jazz while celebrating each band’s distinctive sound and by telling stories through music honoring the rich musical legacy and community of Asbury Park and its roots. Bring your beach chairs, blankets, coolers, family, friends and most of all your dancing shoes! Water and snacks will be available for sale and proceeds will benefit the Sunset Lake Park Conservancy. St. John’s Island is located on Grand Avenue between Fifth and Sunset Avenue. Gates open at 1:15pm. In the event of rain, the concert will be relocated at the Asbury Park Library, 500 1st Avenue, Asbury Park.
