SUNBIRDS the new band of Dave Hemingway, co-founder of The Beautiful South, continue their rise with the release of a brand new single 'Make Up Your Mind' a feelgood song for the summer produced by Nigel Stonier (Fairport Convention, Paul Young, Lindisfarne)Back in November 2020 Dave teamed up with former South colleague songwriter/guitarist Phil Barton, new discovery singer/violinist Laura Wilcockson and top session drummer Marc Parnell to release ‘Cool To Be Kind’ on the independent label Nectar Records. Kevin Cooper of UK Music Reviews described it as a ' a must-have album from an amazing new band' while John Aislewwood of MOJO called it 'an album with warmth to spare'.
With the arrival of multi-instrumentalist Chris Offen in 2022 SUNBIRDS now embrace influences ranging from Americana, 70’s Pop and Folk to Indie Rock. A tongue-in-cheek description of the music by the band would be "The Osmonds fight Radiohead while Stevie Nicks holds the coats".
2023 will see the band continue to grow with the release of further new material combined with 30+ live dates around the UK from September to December 2023.
Being experienced accomplished musicians SUNBIRDS love to put on a show, pulling out all the stops be it performing favourites from Cool To Be Kind, showcasing brand new material or playing songs from Dave's undeniable legacy.
