The Sun Valley Songwriters Series invites audiences inside the art and craft of songwriting through intimate conversations and live performances with some of the most accomplished songwriters in popular music. Hosted at the Argyros Performing Arts Center in Sun Valley, Idaho, the ongoing series explores the stories, inspiration, and creative process behind beloved songs that have shaped contemporary music.
Matraca Berg and Lori McKenna are two of the most celebrated and influential songwriters in contemporary country and folk music. Based in Nashville and New England, respectively, both are renowned for their poetic storytelling, emotional depth, and remarkable ability to craft era defining hits. Berg’s acclaimed catalog includes classics such as “Strawberry Wine” (Deana Carter) and “You and Tequila” (Kenny Chesney). In 2008, she became one of the youngest inductees into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. McKenna, a multi-Grammy Award winning songwriter and recording artist, is known for penning beloved songs including “Humble and Kind” (Tim McGraw) and “Always Remember Us This Way” (Lady Gaga).
