Sun Day (Autumnal Equinox) is a global day of action celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy. Sun Day Houston is a free event to celebrate the progress we've made and learn how to push for more safe, clean energy for all. The clean energy revolution is here. Solar, wind and batteries are the cheapest form of power on the planet, lowering costs, creating new jobs, and strengthening our communities. But some politicians and industries are trying to hold it back.
Featured speakers:
Daniel Cohan, PhD, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rice University, will speak on the science of renewable energy and its growing role in ERCOT and the national U.S. energy grid.
Andrea Oyuela, Sustainability Division, Harris County Office of Administration, and manager of the Harris County Solar for All program will share updates on Harris County’s efforts to expand solar energy access to underserved communities in our area.
Three workshops will be offered:
Rain Barrel Workshop 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Learn about the benefits of rain barrels, get one, and learn how to install it on your property. Register: www.galvbay.org/events
“Tips and Tricks for Going Solar” Workshop 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
Sophy Ashworth, a long-time solar homeowner in Houston and a volunteer with Solar United Neighbors, will share how to invest in solar, avoid scams, and hedge against rising electricity costs.

Nan Hildreth will provide citizens with keen insights and statistical data to elucidate the energy revolution that we are in the midst of, right now, even though few have noticed it.
