Included in the workshop fee are 10 grams of fine silver metal clay, enough to complete one pendant. Additional clay will be available for purchase if desired. A rubber or satin cord is included.

Fingernail Moon Jewelry Studio is in FAVO - Faith Arts Village Orlando - a vintage 1950s era motel that has been converted into artist studios. Just off Colonial Drive/Highway 50 near I-4, we are conveniently located at the north end of downtown Orlando. Using the addres 718 Highland Ave. you will arrive at the outer parking lot. To enter the facility, turn north on Highland from Colonial, there is a stoplight, and enter the second driveway on the left, through a black fence. You will see a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". Proceed through the parking lot to the far right and rear and on through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. You will see an L-shaped building with colorful doors - that's us! I am studio 237, second from the end upstairs on the right. Look for the moons!

Info: During the morning session, we will mold tiny shells and sea creatures in silver clay, create a textured back plate, and attach the embellishments.

Info: Relax and enjoy one of the many restaurants of all types in the area of the studio. You are welcome to bring your lunch and eat in the studio as well. During the lunch break the instructor will fire your pendants and have them ready for you to finish in the afternoon.

Info: Back refreshed from a scrumptious lunch, you will have your creation, now in metal form, ready to finish. We will learn how to burnish and polish the pieces, and add a patina if desired.

Info: We'll take a little time to meet and greet, then find out about precious metal clay.

Info: Now it's time to start making! First we'll choose which molds we want to use in our tidepools. Then we'll learn how to use the molds to create tiny sea creatures for our tidepool. While they are drying, we will create the background of the tidepool for the pendant.

Info: Once all of the pieces are dry, we will learn how to refine them, or smooth and perfect the edges and surfaces. Then we will assemble our tidepools by attaching the sea creatures to the backs.

Info: While our pieces dry, this is a good time to take a break and grab some lunch. FAVO is in the heart of Mills 50 neighborhood, an area packed with independently owned restaurants, noodle houses, bakeries, and creative fusion kitchens. You are also welcome to bring your lunch and eat in the studio.

Info: Now that our pieces are good and dry, we will learn how to fire them with a butane torch to turn them into pure silver.

Info: You might be surprised what your silver pieces look like when they're fired! It's going to take a little work to make them shiny and beautiful. Once they're all polished up, we'll add patina if desired and finish everything up!
