Summer Solstice Restorative Recharge

Prepare to harness your innate ability to calm the mind and heal the nervous system! Begin class with an opening guided meditation in our Himalayan Salt Cave to bring your focus inward, removing your attention from external influences and preparing the mind and body for total relaxation. Move into the restorative yoga portion with the intention to feel supported. Allow all tension to trickle out of the body, entering your “rest and digest” parasympathetic nervous system. Finish class with an extended savasana and more time in the Himalayan Salt Cave to reawaken the senses and leave anything that no longer serves you behind.

Restorative yoga is a relaxing style of yoga requiring minimal movement. Prepare to find deep relaxation as you set the body up to fully relinquish and let go of any tension or holding. We use props such as bolsters and blankets to allow the body to feel fully supported, requiring no effort to remain in each posture. The ground comes up to meet you! Restorative yoga has been shown to improve the body’s natural ability to move from sympathetic (“fight or flight”) to parasympathetic (“rest and digest”), which reduces symptoms of stress and anxiety such as insomnia, high blood pressure, suppressed immune system, unhealthy cravings, IBS, chronic pain, etc. In sum, restorative yoga allows you to heal yourself!

The Himalayan Salt Cave is an enclave filled with Himalayan Salt, both in brick and ground form, that holds numerous benefits for the mind and body. The salt is antimicrobial, emits negative ions that draw out impurities from the air, increases serotonin production, and allows for overall detoxification. When taken in during yoga and meditation, breathing in the purified salt air, which permeates the entire studio space, allows for increased blood flow, oxygen uptake, and focus to allow the body, mind, and spirit to withdraw from the worries of the outside world.
