In this extended practice, we’ll focus on the energy of the summer solstice & ignite our understanding of the the sun’s influence on the body through our powerful movement & breathing on the mat. As the Sun rules the sign of Leo, fixed fire represented as the lion, we’ll learn to fuel our inner fire to cultivate courage, strength, & confidence on our mats. Because every light must have darkness, every Yang must have yin & the sun is balanced by the moon- we will also dive into the depths of the subconscious & explore this lunar energy. As the Moon rules the sign of Cancer, cardinal water represented by the crab, we will also find a balancing, restorative practice to replenish the body & mind & nourish all of our needs within the safe home of our hearts. Ultimately, through a series of sun & moon salutations along with deep meditation breathing techniques, we’ll honor the summer solstice, the Luminaries their governing signs to connect to this stimulating season of empowerment, strength, & courage.
In this workshop, we’ll combine the ancient arts of yoga, meditation, & astrology. While astrology allows us to study the zodiac & their corresponding elements, we gain insight to our innate tendencies, natural strengths & potential struggles. Through ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, we similarly explore different approaches on integrating the elements into our daily lives. Through the somatic experience of yoga & meditation, we can further apply these learned approaches, along with the yogic principles, in our bodies & on our mats . This beautiful marriage between yoga & astrology opens a unique pathway towards self-discovery by aligning our mind & body with the sun, moon, stars, & all the stardust in between in the Universe. By applying these powerful tools together, we unlock a unique approach to our journey of healing & transformation.
