Members receive special discounts to our events and other fun perks. If you'd like to become a member, please visit https://www.armenianprofessionalsociety.org/. ($75 per year for under 35 years old; $100 for 35 years old and over.) Proceeds from event tickets go to our graduate student scholarship fund, which are awarded at the end of the year to deserving students her and abroad. Refund requests will be accepted up to 12 hours before the event. Thereafter, no refunds will be granted.


CODE OF CONDUCT

We want everyone who comes to our events or engages with APS to have a great experience. Whether you are attending, speaking, exhibiting, sponsoring or collaborating with us, our focus is on creating an environment and experience that professionals and community members can participate in and benefit from. We are committed to ensuring the environment we create is inclusive, respectful, and safe. When attending our events, guests are expected to behave with integrity, respect, and consideration toward others who are in attendance or involved in planning the event.

This Code of Conduct explains our expectations and rules, which include general good practices and behavior. Anyone who behaves in an unacceptable way or who disobeys these rules will be asked to leave the attend and may be unallowed to attend future events, subject to our board’s discretion and review of the circumstances.

Comfort & Safety

  • Do not act in a way that compromises the health, safety, and security of yourself or other participants.
  • If you have a fever or other symptoms that may put others at risk of becoming ill, we encourage you not to attend.
  • Follow all health, safety, and security processes including emergency procedures and access protocols such as any age limits.
  • Do not alter or obscure any safety signage, obstruct any exits, or misuse or move any equipment provided for everyone’s safety and protection.
  • Help us by reporting any unsafe behavior, security risks or hazards immediately.


Harassment and Discrimination

Harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment, is prohibited at all APS events. This includes any behavior directed at another person with the effect of offending, humiliating, or intimidating them. The person engaging in the behavior knows or reasonably ought to know that this behavior is humiliating or intimidating. Sexual harassment is a specific type of prohibited conduct that is any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or perceived to cause offense or humiliation. It may involve conduct of a verbal, nonverbal, or physical nature, including written and electronic communications. It may occur between people of the same or different genders.

Prohibited acts and behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Discrimination on the basis of any protected category. This criteria includes but isn’t limited to race, sex, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, disability, and marital status.
  • Offensive language and gestures, whether it is verbal harassment or abuse, sexually explicit language or gestures, profanity, obscenity, or racial, religious, or ethnic slurs.
  • Threats, intimidating and threatening behavior, whether verbal, physical, or written, including menacing gestures.
  • Physical harassment, threats, and acts of violence, including pushing, shoving, and the use of any physical force.
  • Possession or display of any weapon or other item used to threaten or intimidate.
  • Deliberately damaging the venue or other people’s property.
  • Assembling for the purpose of disturbing the peace or committing an offense.

Responsible Consumption

Our events may include alcohol, whether provided as part of your entry fee or by the venue at a cost to you. Please drink responsibly and adhere to all laws regulating the consumption of alcohol. Please be aware of and be prepared to follow the rules of the venue and event organizer around consuming alcohol, smoking, vaping, and using tobacco products. Only consume these products where and when permitted.

Reporting of Misconduct

If you witness something that violates our Code of Conduct or you believe is a valid concern, please report the incident to [email protected] and address the email to our Presidents. Please describe in detail the day/time of the incident, the person(s) involved, and a summary of the occurrence.
