SUMMER SHOWCASE: Opening Reception

Lowry Hill Gallery is pleased to announce the Summer Showcase exhibition, opening Saturday, July 11, 2026.
This ambitious presentation highlights the versatility of our new space and the breadth of artwork shown at Lowry Hill Gallery, exhibiting large-scale and new work by multiple gallery artists.
DOUG ARGUE
New arrivals from Doug Argue’s east coast studio will be presented to the Minnesota market for the first time. These large lithographs, over-painted in oil, reference his continued focus on broadening the surface-field of vision through patterning layered letters, words, or phrases. For example, the rolling, chromatic laughter of “hahaha[...]” repeats horizontally (and intentionally askew) across the paper, coming forth and pushing back in conversation with the backdrop: a verdurous, whirling wall of leaves.
MICHAEL KAREKEN
Taking advantage of the gallery’s open, modern space, we will prominently feature two large-scale oil paintings by Michael Kareken. “Tip Floor,” a 9 x 13 foot triptych of the Rock-Tenn Recycling Plant (now known as WestRock) is a polymorphic and painterly demonstration of Kareken’s virtuosity. “Tip Floor” engages in a discourse of consumer culture and manifestations of waste, while “Magnet II,” depicting a giant, moving scrap metal magnet, presents an elegant essay on finality, environmental resources, and the urban landscape.
MEGAN RYE
Lowry Hill Gallery is proud to now represent Minnesota artist, Megan Rye. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Rye acquired her BFA in painting in 1994, going on to study at the University of Minnesota, where she received her MFA in painting in 2003. Her solo exhibition, I Will Follow You Into The Dark, debuted at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2007 and continued on to Forum Gallery in 2011, where she has been represented since 2005. In 2022, Rye’s exhibition, Foundling: 100 Days, showed at the Weisman Art Museum in Minneapolis.
Rye has been the recipient of a Jerome Foundation Fellowship in 2005, McKnight Foundation Fellowship in 2008, and a Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship in 2010. Rye received a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the MN State Arts Board in 2025. Her work has been supported by MN State Arts Board Grants in 2025, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2007, and 2004.
