Dates: June 10–12
Time: 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM

About the Camp
Embark on a journey into medieval swordsmanship! The Summer of Swords is an immersive, 3-day crash course in Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), focusing primarily on the two-handed longsword. In a safe, supportive, and friendly environment, students will learn fundamental historical techniques, build coordination, and experience the thrill of the sword.
Daily Schedule
* Day 1: Fundamentals & Footwork Learn foundational HEMA footwork and the Meisterhau (the five "master cuts"—centuries-old techniques once kept secret). Students will also learn the core principles of being a safe, effective training partner.
* Day 2: Historical Context & Tactics Hone the master cuts, develop coordination, and explore how these techniques adapt to different combat scenarios. Students will study and practice actual "plays" taken directly from real historical fencing manuals.
* Day 3: Tournament & Celebration Put your skills to the test! Students will learn tournament rules, scoring, and coaching strategies. The camp concludes with a mini mock-tournament, accompanied by a pizza and popsicle party.
Crucial Details & Gear Requirements
* Food & Drink: Water is readily available. Please bring a packed lunch for Day 1 and Day 2. Pizza will be provided on Day 3 (Tournament Day) only.
* Required Gear: An athletic/sports cup is strictly required to participate in the Day 3 mock-tournament.
