Summer Intensive: Film Camp

Are you aged 16–19 and passionate about filmmaking? This January 20 young creatives will have the chance to join the team at the National Academy of Screen Arts for a one-of-a-kind, hands-on filmmaking experience. Over five intensive days, you'll work alongside industry professionals to create a short film project—culminating in a special Friday afternoon screening for friends and whānau in our on-campus cinema.

Our philosophy is simple: you learn by doing.
From day one, you’ll dive into the world of filmmaking—handling professional equipment, exploring the art of cinematic storytelling, and collaborating with others who share your passion.

The core project? Reimagining a scene of your choice from an existing film or TV series. You'll work in teams to plan, shoot, and edit your version of a cinematic moment, learning key skills in:

• Project management

• Team collaboration

• Camera operation

• Audio recording

• Video editing

By the end of the week, you’ll have not only created something to be proud of, but also taken your first real steps toward a future in film.

We'll organise lunch each day, and snacks and you'll get your own university swipe card so you can get a taste of university life.
