About this Event

The Downtown Community Improvement District is pleased to announce a new performance and event series for Downtown Kansas City, “Summer in the City”. Join us twice a month from May through September in Oppenstein Brothers Memorial Park for music, dance, poetry, food trucks, games and other activities at Oppenstein Park, a pocket park located at 12th and Walnut Streets in Downtown Kansas City.

ACTIVATION SERIES - May through September, 2024

  • 2nd Wednesdays (12 to 1:30 PM):

Community events or local performances, yard games and food trucks over lunchtime.

  • 4th Thursdays (5 to 6:30 PM):

Local musicians, dancers, spoken word and other performers will bring the park to life!

The season kicks off on Wednesday, May 8, 12 to 1:30 p.m. with the folk duo Kirstie Lynn and Galen Clark who perform with a nostalgic and warm sound, blending elements of folk and progressive americana all within an independent framework.

Events and performances are free and open to the public.

Bookmark our web page at https://www.downtownkc.org/summerinthecity/ for updates on performances and events.

The Summer in the City Series is brought to you by the Downtown Community Improvement District (DCID), in partnership with Jackson County, Art in the Loop, and area businesses.
