About this Event

Tuesday, June 29, 2021

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Instructor: Robert Bowden

As much as we try, there are many herbs that simply cannot take the summer heat of Florida.  Cilantro, Thyme and Sage, for example, are best grown during the winter months.  So what’s left?  Enjoy a fun-filled presentation by Leu Gardens’ Director, Robert Bowden, as he describes a wide variety of herbs that can take the heat in the summer garden.  A visit to the Herb Garden is also planned.  Bring your walking shoes and plenty of water – it’s June after all!

Robert Bowden  is the Executive Director of Leu Gardens and an Adjunct Professor at both Valencia State College and Palm Beach State College.  He is the author of Florida Fruit and Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles (Cool Springs Press) and Florida Top Ten Garden Guide (Time/Warner).  He was the former Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Director of Horticulture at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis.

Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.  If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit.

Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom. Childcare services are not provided.
