Bring the beauty of the garden to your table! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn the art of hand-building pottery using real nature. You will be guided step-by-step through shaping clay slabs, pressing fresh leaves, ferns, and flowers directly into the surface to capture their permanent textures. Finally, you will shape your botanical canvas into a beautiful, functional serving tray perfect for your next gathering.

What You Will Learn

Clay Hand Building Basics: How to smooth, and manipulate clay without a pottery wheel

Botanical Imprinting: Techniques for pressing real plants cleanly to preserve delicate veins and details

Forming & Finishing: How to drape and shape your slab into a sturdy, functional serving platter.

What’s Included: All clay, tools, guidance, firing and glazing, a selection of fresh seasonal plants (feel free to bring your own special clippings from home as well!) and one drink of choice from the venue to enjoy while you create. No prior pottery experience required.

The Ceramic Process & Pickup:
Pottery is a slow yet beautiful art form! Your serving trays must completely air-dry for several days before going through two separate high-heat kiln firings (bisque and glaze). Because of this meticulous process, your finished, food-safe ceramic trays will be ready for pickup around 3 weeks after class, starting Sunday, September 20th.
