Daniele Rosina - conductor
Annie Wright - piano
We celebrate the height of summer with a performance from the Summer Festival Orchestra. The programme includes the winner of the annual University Music soloist competition, Annie Wright, who will perform Ravel's Piano Concerto in G.
The second half of the concert is Shostakovich’s ninth symphony, a work which failed to live up to soviet expectations when premiered in 1945 for being too playful and jovial, despite moments of ‘genuine lyricism and profound sorrow’ (Mravinsky – conductor of the first performance).
Mahler - Blumine
Ravel - Piano Concerto in G
Shostakovich - Symphony No.9, Op.70
Tickets: £6
