Summer Entertaining Series - Italy and the Art of the Aperitif Hour

Italians take their cuisine very seriously. With more than two millennia of experience as one of the world's greatest culinary cultures, they've learned a thing or two about eating and drinking.

One of their most cherished traditions takes place in the early evening, typically between 6-8pm, those magic hours when the workday has ended and dinner is still a time away. This time period, called l'Apero, is meant for getting together with friends at an enoteca or bar.

The Italians, like they do in so many ways, take happy hour to another level. With each cocktail or glass of wine, snacks are served, and not the typical pretzels or trail mix. These small bites are carefully crafted for sipping away without filling you up. Think marinated artichoke hearts, cherry peppers stuffed with delicate tuna, or thin slices of sweet prosciutto. Each morsel has just the right amount of tangy, salty, or sweet. Snack, sip, repeat.

Join culinary educator and writer (and paisano di cucina) Adam Centamore for an evening getting to know the secrets of this cherished Italian pastime. You'll sample a variety of classic l'apero snacks and learn how to create magnificent spreads for your own gatherings. Classic l'apero beverages will be served as well, making sure we make this the happiest hour possible!

To fully participate in the class:
1. Reserve your ticket through Eventbrite! Purchase one ticket for each member of your party. The ticket price includes admission for one as well as a cheese plate, wine, and accompaniments for one. Guests can expect light fare to go with the beverage pairings.
2. This is a standing event in our retail learning setting. The duration of the class is about an hour and a half. After class, there will be time to tour our cheese caves as well as shop our expansive product selection (at a 10% discount!).
3. This event is for 21+. Our staff will check IDs at the door.

CANCELLATION POLICY: If you are unable to attend a class, please let us know at least 72 hours before the class is scheduled to take place and we will give you a full refund or a credit for a future class. If you don't let us know in advance of the class, you are not entitled to any refund or credit.
