The drum is an extension of you, your magic and your wild spirit. It also connects you to the ancestors, Mother Earth and her heartbeat.This is why so many people love birthing drums. It gives us the opportunity to journey to the spirit of the drum, honour the animals and trees that make up the drum and beater and work in sacred space to create something powerful and unique.
Something that has its own song, voice and spirit. It can also be a challenge, a journey of the soul and a massive achievement when you go home with a beautiful drum.
During the day, you will work with Red deer hides on an ash drum hoop that can be either round or oval. You will be guided to paint a small image on the hoop with artist Peter Yankowski, waxing it and lacing it in a traditional way. We will also be making drum beaters.
We will be working in sacred space and honouring the animals and wood used in the drum throughout the day with a short ceremony to finish to bless the drums.
The total cost is £280 for a 16-inch or 14-inch drum or £290 for a 14 x 18 inch oval drum. Larger drums or a 12 or 10 inch drum can be made on request. A light lunch of soup and a bread will be included. The class size is limited to 8 people and an unrefundable deposit of £100 I needed to secure your place. The total cost needs to be paid by 31st June . You can pay in a few instalments if you like.
I will contact you when you pay your deposit to arrange further payments and to find out more about what you want to make. Once the hides and hoops are ordered the payment is not refunded due to the high cost of materials.
