Summer Butterfly Walk - July 26
About this Event
SATURDAY, JULY 26 at 10:00 AM
Join Michael Bochnik for a walk through the gardens to connect with nature, observe beautiful butterflies in their natural habitat, and learn about their life cycle and the plants they depend on. Untermyer Gardens hosts a wide diversity of cultivated and naturalized plants that support local butterflies and other important pollinators. Eastern Tiger Swallowtails, Spicebush Swallowtails, Silver-spotted Skippers and others may be seen on the walk. Discover the differences between moths and butterflies as you look for adults and caterpillars on host plants.
Your guide, Michael Bochnik, is a Yonkers resident and expert on local birds and butterflies. He leads frequent bird walks in Westchester County and lower Hudson Valley for Hudson River Audubon Society, and also serves as president. Hudson River Audubon maintains a butterfly garden at Lenoir Preserve just up the street from Untermyer Gardens, which is free and open to the public.
