About this Event
- WHEN: Monday thru Friday June 27-July 22 (closed July 4th)
- WHERE: Broadway Comedy Club (AKA New York Improv Theater) 318 West 53rd Street, NY NY 10019
- PARTICIPANTS: Teens (13-17) serious about developing their performance and writing skills in multiple comedy disciplines.
- Morning Improv Comedy - warm-up, build technique and learn/play both short and long form improvisational theater comedy games. Beyond a ton of fun, Improv builds a variety of skills valuable to all performers.
- LUNCH BREAK
- Writers Room - every session starts with new pitches, round tables of ongoing ideas and break out sessions into groups to further develop script ideas (via read thrus, improvisation and discussion) for live sketch comedy and video content. Read through, rehearse, stage/film ready to go scripts.
- Daily Open Mic - Every comic gets 5-7 minutes to work on their stand-up comedy.
- Daily wrap up - sum up the days work and have a game plan for ongoing projects. Set production schedules for filming, upcoming showcases and more.
- Classes in Creative Writing - brainstorming and developing ideas, formatting scripts
- Classes in Movement for the performer - stretching, mime, and more
- Classes in Event Production - artistic and tech planning, marketing etc
- Classes in Video Editing
- Classes in Career Development - how to get booked live, find an agent/manager, get cast on TV, commercials etc. develop YOUR path to success.
- Every student will get at least one (if not 2-4) opportunities to showcase Improv, Stand-Up and Sketch Comedy live for invited audience, including industry (we will invite casting directors, agents, managers and producers).
- Online Video Showcase: We will host short and longer form sketch comedy content on our various platforms and/or help students develop their own social media.

Walter’s #1 rule is to “HAVE FUN”, a philosophy that rules on and off stage and screen. In the past decade he has appeared on TruTV’s “Friends of the People”, Showtime’s “Billions” CBS’s “Blue Bloods”, USA’s “Royal Pains” and Netflix’s “Lilyhammer”. Frasier got his start on TV via Sketch Comedy bits on MTV and Letterman. Since 2002, Walt Frasier has been mostly busy performing & teaching in Times Square and touring nationwide (colleges, corporate events) with EIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH Improv Comedy. The DC area (Gaithersburg, Maryland) native has also performed theater & music off-Broadway, regional and touring internationally.
During Quarantine, Frasier has authored two books: Improv on Zoom and Stand-Up Comedy, both textbooks designed for K12 school students and teachers. His latest book, IMPROV COMEDY, is a text book for all his students, teaching artists and clients to help further their studies and develop their own comedy path.
