Supporting democracy in the Sukkah with The Neighborhood and The Workers Circle.
About this Event

The Neighborhood is proud to partner with The Workers Circle to bring you this very special Democracy Circle in the Sukkah. Democracy Circles are small groups of people who join together to demand the democracy we need; a truly multi-racial, multi-cultural democracy that represents all of us. Democracy Circle participants are invited to draw upon their own diverse experiences–personal, historical, and cultural–as a critical foundation for our collective engagement.

The holiday of Sukkot places emphasis on the value of hospitality, and welcoming guests into the Sukkah. We hope this theme will encourage us to come together, share space, and think intentionally about the society we want to live in, while fulfilling the broader Jewish obligation to pursue justice.

Everyone who wishes to build a “better and more beautiful world for all” is welcome!

Sukkot Democracy Circle is presented by The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life in partnership with The Workers Circle as a part of the Sukkot in The Neighborhood festival at the Ring Community Center at Luria Academy of Brooklyn. Sukkot in The Neighborhood events take place in an art installation Sukkah created by Ye’ela Wilschanski. Click here to see the full schedule of events.
