About this Event
Have you noticed if a family member, friend or colleague hasn’t quite been themselves lately? Do they seem low or withdrawn? Or maybe you just sense that something isn’t right. If any of that rings true, it could be time to talk.
Talking to someone about suicide may feel like one of the hardest things you’ll ever do, but it could also be one of the most important conversations you’ll ever have.
You don’t have to be a trained professional to engage in a conversation about suicide. But how do you go about this? The ‘Recognise and Respond – Suicide Prevention in Everyday Life’, a 1-hour interactive course delivered by the Black Dog Institute looks at how to recognise changes in someone’s behaviour, how to engage in a conversation with that person and where to find further support.
Upon completing the course, you’ll be able to:
• Recognise the signs that someone may be thinking about suicide
• Increase your confidence in having a conversation about suicide
• Identify when to take action
• Know where to get help for someone who is at risk
• Understand the importance of self-care
The learning experience includes case studies, demonstration videos, downloadable resources and interactive quizzes to equip you with the tools you need to better support others and care for your own mental health.
You will receive an email with a unique login code to the portal which you can access at any time. Please put aside an hour in your calendar sometime over the next two weeks to complete the training.
