Sugar skull painting
Sugar skulls, or calaveras de azúcar, are vibrant, decorated skull shapes made from molded sugar. Used during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) a traditional Mexican holiday on November 1st and 2nd, they represent departed souls, celebrate life, and honor the memories of loved ones who have passed away.
In this class, the talented Miranda Caroligne and Silvia Trujillo of Art Presence will take you through the painting and embellishing of these beautiful and colorful skulls! They will provide all materials, including a sugar-free (molded plastic) skull, paints, adornments and embllishments, plus instruction, ideas, and encouragement.
Feel free to bring your own broken jewelry, beads, silk flowers (less than 1″ diameter recommended for eyes). Beginners welcome for this fun holiday activity!
