This event will mark 30 years since the release of Dog Man Star, the classic album by Suede and their second, which was released in October 1994 on Nude Records. It was written by Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler, with its singles being We Are the Pigs, The Wild Ones and New Generation, which was the first to feature guitarist Richard Oakes. Saul Galpern and Simon Price will be interviewed together about the album and Suede's continung success.
Saul Galpern is the founder of Nude Records, which he signed Suede to and they were the first act on the independent label, ahead of their debut and self-titled 1993 album. It gained much acclaim and won the Mercury Music Prize that year. Later acts on Nude included Geneva and The Jennifers, later known as Supergrass.
Simon Price was the first journalist to interview Suede and has since done so on a number of occasions. He wrote the sleeve notes for the 30th anniversary editions of Dog Man Star, which will be released on October 4th. He has written books on Manic Street Preachers and The Cure.
