Part 1: Religious Trauma Syndrome and Sexuality

Dive into the foundations of Religious Trauma Syndrome (RTS) and its profound effects on sexuality and worldview. Understand what RTS is, who it affects, and how it shapes our perceptions and experiences of sexuality. This session provides a comprehensive overview of the emotional and psychological impacts of religious trauma, setting the stage for deeper exploration in the following parts.

Part 2: Sexuality and the Black Church

Explore the intricate relationship between sexuality and the Black church. Discuss the origins of our ideas around sex and sexuality, and examine how white culture's obsession with Black sexuality has shaped stereotypes and control. Through the lens of Foucault’s theory of power, uncover the impact of white supremacy and religious doctrines on our sense of sexuality.

Part 3: Who Gets to Speak for God? Who Gets to Speak for You?

Examine the differing religious narratives and their origins, focusing on theological interpretations and historical changes over time. Discuss the contrasts between the teachings of Jesus and Paul, particularly regarding women, slavery, sex, condemnation, and shunning. This session aims to empower you by questioning who truly speaks for God and who should speak for you.
