Michelle Waddicor, MCIOB, Head of Capital Projects, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Michelle leads the Estates and Facilities Capital Programme for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. She joined the NHS in June 2020 after working in the private sector as a consultant Project Manager on construction schemes across various sectors. Michelle is responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects to improve the service user, clinical and staff environments across the Stepping Hill Hospital estate. Of particular note is the current £30m+ Emergency and Urgent Care Campus (EUCC) project ongoing at Stockport, as well as the £20m+ ED Refurbishment Scheme at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care Foundation Trust. She is patient and quality focused, passionate about her work and the impact it can make on people’s lives.
Phil Shaw, Divisional Director, Tilbury Douglas
Phil has 30 years' industry experience, during which time he has delivered and overseen £1.2 bn of construction projects in the-built environment sector specialising in the delivery of complex healthcare projects. His knowledge has been recognised with his selection to play a leading role as governance and review for the NHS Trusts advisory panels and has been influential in shaping and improving the patient experience. He is committed to driving best practice promoted in the government’s Construction Playbook which outlines expectations of how contracting authorities and suppliers should engage with each other. In his role today, Phil consistently seeks continuous improvement to delivery by challenging behaviours to identify innovative construction techniques to drive efficiencies.
Gordon Sterling, National Health Director, Tilbury Douglas
Gordon has over 30 years of experience within the construction sector and as national health sector lead involved in the delivery of projects in primary, acute and mental health.
He has helped to secure more than £1bn of health sector awards, and successfully securing national procurement frameworks including P21+, P22, P23, NHS Building for Wales and Frameworks Scotland.
Ben Brookes, Partner, Rider Hunt
Ben is an experienced Project Manager with a depth and breadth of experience developed through 27 years of managing a variety of demanding projects across the public and private sector. He established Rider Hunt’s Project Management business for the North West and Midlands in 2011. Ben has specific expertise in managing healthcare projects, an in-depth understanding of delivering capital projects within NHS Trusts, and is an expert on the NHS ProCure21+/22/23 framework.
