Apples have a long and fascinating history in Wisconsin, from early pioneer orchards to today’s diverse local apple farms. In this program, we will explore how apples became a staple of the Midwestern landscape, including the development of cold-hardy varieties suited to our climate. Learn about heirloom cultivars and discuss modern growing trends and how climate and consumer preferences are influencing the apple industry today. To close, we will enjoy a guided tasting of several apple varieties to help you recognize their unique flavors, textures, and uses in cooking and storage.
Free and open to the public, registration appreciated.
Please contact Mehta if you have questions at 920-886-6315.
