SUB CLUB PRESENTS Lucio Fulci’s CONQUEST
A long time ago, in the mystical land of Italy, movie ripoffs were high art. As their American counterparts scrambled to develop the next CONAN, Italian filmmakers had already boiled the sword & sorcery picture down to nothing but its sinew and bones. Enter notorious maestro of gore Lucio Fulci and his CONQUEST. The elements are familiar — a boy on a journey, a magical weapon, an evil sorceress — but the package is a plotless, gauzy, borderline avant-garde dungeon synth trip through the airbrushed painting on the side of a stoner’s van (with plenty of dogmen, spilled guts, and nudity to boot).
