SUBCINEMA Presents VIRGIN BEASTS

VIRGIN BEASTS is an Australian live-action/animation hybrid from 1992 that intersects the real and fantastic in a collage of vulgar camp and radioactive dreams. Born from the radical imagination of admitted "political animal, queer-vision questing, cyberpunk outsider" Toby Zoates, VIRGIN BEASTS follows an old nuclear arms dealer on his death bed who hallucinates about his own immortality so he can conquer the world in perpetuity. Along the way, he follows an animated dolphin across the astral plane in search of "The Cup that Heals all Wounds" while back in the "real" world the old man's lawyers arrange a heart swap surgery with an Aboriginal convict. A visceral phantasmagoria partially inspired by the 1983 study "Fathering the Unthinkable: Masculinity, Scientists and the Nuclear Arms Race."

Presented on PAL VHS from EX Film of Australia. Projected on an 1994 EIKI LC-330 Video Projector.
