Join us for a clothing swap! Stylebook and the Arts Council of Princeton want to help you find your unique style. Come hunt for new-to-you pieces that will become a mainstay in your closet for years to come.We all have a piece of nice clothing that just didn’t work out for whatever reason. It might not fit your size, your life, or maybe your style has just evolved. Whatever the reason, special clothes don’t have to be stuffed in the back of the closet or wind up in a landfill.
You know that gorgeous dress you only wore once or the statement piece that turned out to be not really your style? Why not swap them for something new and see if your piece could become someone else’s wardrobe staple? Stylebook will share their tips and tricks for maximizing your wardrobe and finding your unique style.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
-- It’s a one-for-one swap: for each piece of clothing you bring, you can take one home! When you arrive, check-in your clothes, and you will receive one ticket per item to swap. For example, if you bring three articles of clothing, you’ll receive three tickets to trade for three “new-to-you” items. You can bring up to 10 items!
-- This event is held in partnership with the Stylebook closet organization app and BeReworn, a new platform that will allow you to preview (and post!) items that will be available at the swap.
-- Once registered, event organizers will send you a link to upload your items and start planning what you’d like to scoop up!
-- In the event that any unclaimed items remain at the end of the event, participants will have the opportunity to ensure all
‘unswapped’ clothes go onto their next life by donating to our Helpsy bin, coordinated by Sustainable Princeton.

Registration is $10.
BONUS: Mending Table!
During the swap, visit our Mending Table where a seamstress will share quick and clever fixes to holes, snags, and tears to keep your clothes out of the landfill! Darning, weaving, and embroidery – including the Japanese art of Sashiko – can all be used creatively to actually show off the repair on your clothing, becoming more of a statement piece. Needles, pins, thread, fabric scraps for patches, and scissors will all be provided. Each participant can bring two items for repair but take away countless ideas to use at home. These two items will not count toward your swap.
ABOUT THE APP:
Jess and Bill Atkins are the co-founders of Stylebook closet app, the original outfit planner and closet organization app. Based in Princeton NJ, the app has over 1 million users and is the best way to find your personal style. Stylebook is designed to help you carefully curate your wardrobe so you can love what you wear every day. Their goal is help you to get the most out of what you already have in your closet and to choose new pieces that will integrate well into your wardrobe as a whole. As you use the app you’ll receive automatic stats on which clothes you wear the most and least, helping you streamline and edit your wardrobe – and identify clothes that might be good for a swap!
