About this Event
Discover the vital role birds play in Houston’s ecosystem during a Studio Scholars session with Pete Deichmann, Land Conservation Director with Houston Audubon.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Pete will share why Houston is such an important home for birdlife, how conservation efforts help protect their habitats, and what his work with Houston Audubon has taught him about preserving the region’s natural beauty.
Pete earned a Biology degree from the University of Missouri and joined the Houston Audubon team in 2013. His time on the Upper Texas Coast has been dedicated to managing Houston Audubon sanctuaries, including habitat restoration, research, land acquisition, and other conservation initiatives. In his spare time, Pete enjoys birding, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family.
