Most photographers don’t struggle with pressing the shutter. They struggle with knowing why they’re pressing it.

Too much instinct on autopilot. Not enough intention behind the choices.

This Dallas session at NOVA Studios is built to fix that.

On June 28, we’re stepping into studio work with a different pace and a different mindset. Not rushed. Not “grab a look and move on.” We’re going to slow things down and actually pay attention to what we’re building, piece by piece.

I’ll be shooting tethered during demos, so you’re watching everything happen as it happens. Light placement, exposure adjustments, micro changes in pose, expression shifts that either land or fall flat. No guessing. No “we’ll fix it later.” You’ll see the decisions in real time, including the misses, and more importantly, the corrections.

Briana Noir is co-teaching alongside me, and that’s where this really opens up. This is not a photographer talking at a model. This is both sides of the frame working together. You’ll see how she reads light instantly, adjusts her body to it, and contributes to the final image just as much as the person holding the camera. We’ll break that interaction down so you’re not just directing subjects, you’re actually collaborating with them.

There’s no mystery here. No “just trust the process.”

This is about understanding what you’re doing while you’re doing it, so your results stop feeling accidental.

What we’re digging into:

• Building light with purpose instead of default setups
• Letting go of habits that are holding your framing and composition back
• Creating mood that feels real, not forced
• Working with your subject so the image has cohesion, not tension
• Figuring out your own visual taste so your work starts to feel like yours
• Shifting from “taking photos” to actually crafting images

You’ll shoot. But this isn’t about walking away with a full memory card. It’s about walking away with clarity.

I keep these classes small on purpose. You’re not sitting in the back watching a demo. You’re involved, asking questions, making adjustments, and seeing the results immediately.

If you’ve ever left a shoot thinking, “it’s decent, but it’s not what I saw in my head,” this is where that gap starts to close.
