Studio Day: Introduction to Printing with Nature
About this Event
A creative retreat day in an artist's bright blue garden studio in Walthamstow (E17), where you'll learn 3 basic printmaking techniques in a playful, relaxing environment. The workshop takes place in the artist’s home studio and garden, and includes a studio tour, all materials as well as refreshments and a wholesome vegan lunch. This is a small group workshop limited to 5 places.
Artist and printmaker Laura Villares House will introduce three printmaking techniques that use repurposed/found materials, and invites participants to use these to respond creatively to the garden just outside the studio. No prior experience in printmaking is required.
You'll learn about three main types of printing, which all work in different ways:
- Monoprint: Jelly plate printing using natural items to explore silhouettes & layered natural forms
- Relief: Lino: Make a mini lino plate responding to a simple shape you find in the garden
- Intaglio: Tetrapak printing - find line-based form in the garden and scratch it into tetrapak, and make a print using a pasta roller.
Over the course of the day, you’ll explore and combine the techniques to make your own unique, hand-made greetings cards.
Ticket includes:
- All materials

Please bring an overall or wear clothes you don't mind getting messy. Please we'll be spending some time outdoors, so please bring suitable clothing for the weather on the day.
