Studio 112 and DECIEM invite you to an intimate community screening of at Paradise Theatre.

This powerful film explores a pivotal moment in Canadian history, the legacy of Black student activism and the ongoing fight for justice and equality. Coach Carey, in conversation with one of the films elders Dr. Norman Cook, Director Sasha Leigh Henry, Canadian filmmaker Karen Chapman, and CEO of the Black Opportunity Fund Craig Wellington, with an open audience Q&A to close the evening.

ABOUT THE FILM
Through never-before-seen archives and the voices of those who lived through the tumultuous 1960s in Montreal, True North explores the pivotal events of that period, which impacted the global movement for Black liberation, by centring the Congress of Black Writers and the Sir George Williams Affair.
To tell the story, the film uses archival footage featuring Black students and activists who lived through these events. It interweaves accounts of a little-known historical chapter in the Black Power movement that impacted the struggle for Black liberation across the globe and resonates with today's movements for change.
