We can't always control what young people face. But we can influence how prepared they are to face it.
About this Event

Bullying, peer pressure, substance use, the need to belong. Growing up comes with challenges, and for the adults who care about young people, knowing how to support them isn't always straightforward.

We often focus on what children are doing, who they're spending time with and the choices they're making. But what if we paid more attention to what's happening beneath those behaviours?

Join the Rotary Club of Vancouver for a fireside chat with Quinn Cashion, a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, author and educator who has spent more than 30 years working with children, families and schools.

Quinn brings a perspective that goes beyond simply teaching children to be strong. She believes resilience is something we can help young people discover within themselves, and that the emotional well-being of the adults around them plays an important role in that process.

Drawing on decades of experience in counselling, education and research, she'll share how confidence, connection and a sense of belonging can influence the way young people respond to difficult situations.

The conversation will be moderated by Parastoo Farrokhyar and will also talk about the environments we create at home, in classrooms and throughout our communities, and why supporting children's well-being needs to begin long before a crisis.

You don't need to be a parent to be part of this conversation.

Parents, grandparents, educators, mentors, business leaders and community members all have a role in shaping the environments young people grow up in.

And that's what makes this conversation particularly relevant to Rotary. Building stronger communities isn't only about responding when something goes wrong. It's also about creating the conditions for people to thrive in the first place.

You don't need to be a Rotary member to attend. Our weekly lunches bring together people from across Vancouver for meaningful conversations, new perspectives and opportunities to connect.

Join us for lunch, meet a few new people and be part of a conversation about the next generation and the communities we're building around them.

Reserve your seat. We'd love to welcome you!
