3-Day Class - Tuesdays & Fridays - July 21, 24, & 28 (10 am - Noon)
This class explores the isometric grid and the patterns that can be derived from it. We will use a simple stripes pattern to create an eight-inch blank that can be slumped or dropped with follow-on work.
We cover:
What are isometric grids, and what patterns are generated in glass?
Stripes pattern, glass estimation, and color choices.
Layout and prep for the kiln, along with kiln schedules.
Cold working techniques and pointers.
Steps needed for further kiln work to either slump or drop your piece.
How to scale your grid for tighter patterns and larger pieces.
Lastly, explore other patterns such as cubes or honeycomb.
The student will acquire the skills to embark on their projects in isometric grids while leaving with a finished blank.
