About this Event

Join us for an intimate evening of live music under the stars at the Shipyard — a hidden gem of a venue in Silver Spring. French guitarist and singer Julien Xuereb opens the night, followed by Chimera Quartet with guest soprano Melissa Jean Chávez. AND a popup art gallery featuring the work of Marily Mojica! Carnival lights, a shipping container stage, and 30 of your soon-to-be favorite people. Donation at the door.

The Shipyard is one of Silver Spring's best-kept secrets — an outdoor venue tucked behind a private residence, with a shipping container stage, string lights, and an atmosphere that makes classical music feel exactly as alive as it should be. On the evening of September 19th, we're filling it with some of DC's finest.

The night opens with Julien Xuereb, a French guitarist and singer who studied at the Peabody Institute and has made Washington his home. Whether he's playing intimate classical guitar or layering looper-driven Latin grooves, Julien brings a warmth and versatility that sets any room at ease.

Then Chimera Quartet takes the stage — a chamber ensemble whose name reflects their spirit: baroque, romantic, and 20th-century repertoire played with improvised voicing, spontaneous arrangement, and genuine joy. Joining them for the second set is Melissa Jean Chávez, soprano, whose "bell-like high notes" and "vocal excellence" have earned consistent praise from the Washington Post and DC Metro Arts.

We'll also be featuring a popup art gallery featuring the work of Marily Mojica! Marily is a Nuyorican artist, born in New York to Puerto Rican parents. She is a painter, crafter and collector, moving between acrylic, oil, paper, fiber markers, pencils and clay to communicate what's important to her and often uses rich colors in her work.

Capacity is 30. This is a donation-at-the-door event — come for the music, stay for the community.
