String Fling in Cedar Park

Sat Feb 11 2023 at 03:00 pm to 05:30 pm

House Concert | Austin, TX

Featuring the bowed and fretted string quartet invoke with other special guests, plus beer, wine, and pastries in an informal setting.
About this Event

What could possibly be better than a concert with our old friends in Invoke? How about adding MORE great string players into the mix!

T´╗┐his February, Beerthoven will feature an expanded Invoke ensemble with violist Ruben Balboa and cellist Denise Ro. On top of a set of works just for the Invoke gang, they'll all come together for the unique quintet Cymbeline for mandolin and string quartet by David Bruce as well as the String Sextet by Peter Schickele. A "string fling" with sextet? We think PDQ Bach would approve.

Thanks to our sponsors, we will be serving warm pastries and cold beer generously provided by Easy Tiger and Lazarus Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages--all at no additional cost!

Kids are welcome! Tickets for children as well as students through college age are available for $10. Purchase at the door or email [email protected] for advance student tickets.

Safety Protocols:

We encourage all members of our community to get vaccinated and boosted as this is the best way to ensure that our concert can proceed without additional safety requirements. Beerthoven will follow federal and local guidelines closely to determine appropriate safety protocols in the event of another Covid surge. As of this writing, the CDC has determined that the level of risk in Austin is medium. If this situation holds we therefore intend to produce the concert without requiring masking or social distancing. In the event of another surge we may adjust our requirements and notify our ticketed guests in advance of the performance.

About Beerthoven:

The critically-acclaimed Beerthoven Concert Series is a down-to-earth, approachable celebration of classical song, chamber music, and beer; a quirky mixture of Bach and Doppelbock in unique and intimate settings. Beerthoven finds its inspiration in the musical and festive events of the Austin Saengerrunde as well as the private "salon" concerts of Beethoven's time. Beerthoven events feature live classical music, free beer, and other refreshments and snacks in an all-inclusive manner. There is no backstage here; audience members may even find themselves standing in line for beer with the performers.

Programming is intentionally diverse in tone, instrumentation, and featured performers. Beerthoven supports local artists by offering fair compensation and unique performance venues. Audience members will find our prices at the very low end of typical classical concerts--especially for students and especially given the high quality of the exbeerience.
