STRIKE! A Musical and Dramatic Revue

A strike is coming! Strike!, the UAF Department of Theatre & Film’s spring show, is a musical and dramatic review devised by Flyn Ludington (Stage Director) and Phillip Heilbron (Music Director). It is a kaleidoscope of working-class theater from the 20th century up to the present day. Dramatic writing selections from acclaimed playwrights and poets present a sweeping, empathetic portrait of worker’s issues in the first half of the twentieth century, when union membership was at a historical peak. Songs from contemporary musicals and protest songs from the labor movement weave among the dramatic scenes to make their themes and conflicts universal and timeless. A large cast of over 30 performers plays a variety of individual roles and unites in stage-filling ensemble numbers. Educational and moving, this spectacular show is not to be missed! The UAF Department of Theatre and Film teaches courses in media and performing arts, technology, theory and criticism. A degree in our film and performing arts program gives students a critical understanding of the history, theory and technologies of cinema, new media arts and theatre arts while giving them opportunities, tools and resources for careers in media and performing arts industries, to pursue graduate study, or become media or theatre artists.
